Baseball Falls in Sunday Doubleheader to Bloomsburg

CLARKSBURG, W. Va. – Davis & Elkins squandered a lead in game one before falling behind early in game two as part of a doubleheader defeat to Bloomsburg on Sunday at Frank Loria Field in Clarksburg.

The team's played a seven inning doubleheader under sunny skies after moving the games to Sunday. D&E moves to 3-2 on the season, while Bloomsburg pushes its record to 5-1.

Game One
Brent McMillion rolled through six innings on the mound in game one before the Huskies bats came alive in the seventh. McMillion fanned four in six innings before Max Larimore came in for the final three outs.

Gabriel Patxot and Tanner Wickham drove in runs in game one for D&E.

McMillion battled out of a jam in the fourth, recording two consecutive outs with two runners on to keep the Huskies off the board.

The Senators scored their runs in the third and fifth innings.

Game Two
In game two, Bloomsburg worked the pitch count of starter McKinley Scott early and struck for six runs in the second inning for a comfortable advantage. The Senators got one back in the bottom of the frame on a John Arcaro double down the right field line that plated Luis Diaz, who caught for the Senators.

A pair of bases loaded walks brought home the first two runs of the afternoon for Bloomsburg. A two-run double made the score 4-0 and a well-placed single down the right field line brought home two more for a 6-0 margin.

Diaz reached on an error from the Huskies, ultimately moving to second on the throw that bounced off the fence. Arcaro laced a 2-1 pitch down the right field line as D&E posted its lone run of the second game. Wickham doubled in the third and Justin Worley singled before swiping second as D&E placed runners in scoring position, ultimately unable to drive them home.

Marcos Feria shut things down on the mound in relief, scattering three hits and allowing one run in 5.2 innings. He struckout six and fired 80 pitches.
