FROSTBURG, Md. – Davis & Elkins was limited to just 13 points in each of the final three quarters as Frostburg State pulled away for a 71-59 over the Senators in women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena.
Sophomore guard
Sydney Nestor dropped in a game-high 17 points for D&E, with 14 coming before halftime. Junior forward
Jamiyah Johnson pushed her double-double streak to 22 consecutive games with 16 points and 15 rebounds and senior
Jay Kilpatrick worked her way into double digits with 10 points.
Frostburg State was led by senior Amanda Emory, who recorded her 1,000
th career point with 15 points and seven rebounds. Victoria Diggs added 11 points and three rebounds and Ciara Thomas rounded out the Bobcats in double figures with 11 points.
The Bobcats outscored the Senators 21-13 in the second quarter to take a halftime lead and clamped things down defensively in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nestor handed D&E the early lead with the first of four trey balls in the opening half as D&E moved ahead 7-4 at 7:22 in the first quarter. Consecutive layups from Stotler trimmed the Frostburg deficit to 9-8 before Nestor converted another three to move the edge back to 12-8.
- A free throw from Mohler pushed the Senators' edge to eight at 18-10 before Frostburg posted the next six points. A layup from Johnson made the score 20-16, proving to be the final bucket in the first quarter.
- Frostburg came out firing to start the second period, opening up a 6-0 run to move in front, 22-20. The Bobcats did not trail for the rest of the quarter after a pair of Johnson foul shots tied the score at 22. Johnson also converted the final bucket of the half, making a layup along the right block to make the score 37-33 at intermission.
- Two consecutive hoops in the third pushed Frostburg to its largest lead of the night at nine and forced a timeout for D&E. Frostburg worked its lead to double figures, but Kilpatrick stuck a pair of pull-up jumpers in timely spots as the Bobcats led 53-56 through three quarters.
- After a Thomas three for Frostburg, Mohler drove inside to cut the deficit to 10 points at 58-48. Raegan Sharp added a layup the next trip down the floor in a mini spurt for the Senators. Off a timeout, a missed three on one end for the Senators and a made three for Diggs handed the Bobcats a 61-50 advantage in the fourth.
- Nestor converted the Senators first three of the second half with 5:53 remaining in regulation and Allie Taylor followed suit with a trey at 5:09 brought D&E to within 63-56. Emory added a putback off a D&E turnover for a 69-56 advantage as Frostburg maintained the fourth quarter edge.
- The Bobcats melted the clock away to hold on for the conference victory.
GAME NOTES
- Johnson pushed her streak of double-doubles to 22 consecutive games, notching 11 points and 10 rebounds in the first half.
- Frostburg used a balanced scoring effort, outscoring the D&E bench by a 28-9 margin.
- Nestor's three with just over five minutes left int eh fourth quarter was the first of the half for D&E.
- Nestor dropped in a career-best five three-pointers in the loss.
