HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ryn Boelter made the start in the circle and tossed three consecutive scoreless innings. Davis & Elkins provided Maddy run support with its three-run second inning.
- After reaching on an error, Kelsie Millner stole second and third on a failed pickoff and eventually scoring as a wild pitch as the Senators cashed in on miscues from Fayetteville State. The Broncos got on the board after an error from the Senators, making the score 4-1.
- Holt continued her solid start to the season with a run-scoring single to short, expanding the lead to 5-1. Rhetta Persinger plated two more runs with a single to left, scoring Olivia Smith and Holt for a 7-1 edge.
- Fayetteville State posted one more run for the final 7-2 margin.
GAME NOTES
- Boelter fired her second complete game of the season and earned her third win.
- Boelter has surrounded just two extra-base hits in four games in the circle this season.
- Game one marked the second time D&E plated five or more runs in a game.
- The Senators stole eight bases in the opening game of the doubleheader, the most in a game during the tenure of head coach Jordan Olson.
- Millner had three stolen bases and was one of three Senators (Malloy, Parks) with multiple steals.

One swing of the bat from
Olivia Smith changed the complexion of Sunday's nightcap as the freshman belted a grand slam to hand the Senators a comfortable 5-0 lead in the first inning. The early lead gave D&E momentum, which it used in a 13-0 run-rule win against the Broncos.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- D&E notched its first run off an error as four of the first five batters reached base. Smith cleared the bases with her first career home run for a 5-0 advantage.
- The Senators tacked on two more runs in the second following a run-scoring single from Persinger and a sacrifice fly for Smith, her fifth RBI of the day.
- Holt plated Malloy with a single in the fifth for an 8-0 edge and three more runs came across after another FSU error later in the frame. Malloy smacked a ground-rule double, allowing Millner to score as D&E surged ahead 12-0. The final run of the day came on a wild pitch in the fifth.
GAME NOTES
- Jenna Evans picked up the win in the circle, pitching all five innings and allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts.
- Holt moved her season and career-opening hitting streak to eight games, collecting five multi-hit efforts to start the year.
- Carter and Amy Fincham have reached base safely in four straight games.
- Holt and Malloy collected three knocks each, while Carter and Fincham had two hits apiece.
- Despite entering the doubleheader with a 5-1 overall mark, Fayetteville State was sloppy on the defensive end with eight errors in the doubleheader.
