Senators Fall to #7 Seton Hill in Season Opener, 26-8

ELKINS, W. Va --

Opening up the season on Saturday with a formidable foe in #7 Seton Hill, Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse came up short in a 26-8 decision at Nuttall Field.

Following a two hour delay due to yesterday's snowfall, Matthew Dyck put the Senators up early with the first goal of the season. The Griffins pounced immediately, notching two goals in ten seconds to take the early lead.

Three more goals would follow for Seton Hill before Tyler Kolodka's unassisted goal temporarily stopped the Griffins' scoring streak, but the Griffins' would then go on a 6-0 run to take an 11-2 lead early in the second quarter. Kolodka would take a Jordan Waddell pass in for his second goal of the game, but the Griffins' yet again went on a 6-0 run, padding their lead to 17-3. Dyck would fire his second goal of the half off of Trevor Kennedy's assist, and Seton Hill scored once more before halftime.

Michael Holstein tossed a lengthy shot to score his first goal of the season early in the third quarter, and Kolodka's third goal of the day made it a 21-6 game late in the third quarter. Aidan O'Dwyer and Kyle Durec rounded out the scoring for the Senators on the afternoon. Kennedy led the Senators with two assists, while Waddell finished with one assist and three ground balls.

David Thorne Jr. spent the entire game in goal for the Senators, finishing with 14 saves and a team-high nine ground balls.
