Indoor Track & Field Heads Aims to Kickstart Semester on a High Note

After opening the year with an indoor meet hosted by Marietta back in early December, Davis & Elkins continues its season at the WVU Open on Friday morning. The Senators will send a group of about 20 athletes to Morgantown for a small meet prior visiting Marietta again on January 18. D&E captured posted several standout efforts Marietta, with
Svea Timm (3K – 10:42),
Dymere Jones (LJ – 6.12 meters) and
Roxanne McFarlin (Shot – 7.19 meters) setting records.
In total, the Senators posted five victories at Marietta but will look to set the tone for the rest of the indoor season with its first action in over a month. WVU is hosting its second consecutive meet following the Marty Pushkin Open on December 7, where Alderson Broaddus, Frostburg State and West Liberty were among the schools competing.

Game Program
Davis & Elkins returns for its penultimate regular season competition on Saturday, January 11 when the Senators welcome West Virginia Wesleyan for Senior Day at the Myles Center Pool. Saturday is the final home meet of the season as the Senators begin to shift their attention to the GMAC/MEC Swimming Championships next month.
D&E won the Senator Duals with the women's team defeating Frostburg State and Cal U and the men's squad knocking off Frostburg back on December 7. The strong efforts landed the senior duo of
Jaime Boulier and
Chris Carter MEC Swimmer of the Week honors the next week. Boulier had four victories that day, while Carter picked up a pair of individual victories.

Emily Coleman,
Gavin Burnham,
Mia Ellison and
Victoria Fletcher will be recognized prior to the meet as members of the senior class. Senior Day will begin at 12:45, followed by the 13-event format dual meet at approximately 1:30 PM.

Wrestling Begins 2020 With Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Open

Millersville's Student Memorial Center will be bustling with activity on Saturday morning at the 2020 Shorty Hitchcock Open. The eight-mat bracketed tournament will be double elimination beginning at 10:00 AM. Saturday marks the third open tournament of the season for the Senators, who competed at W&J on November 9 and the Bob Quade Cyclone Open on December 8.
D&E closed its stretch in December with three dual contests in a two-day span against Seton Hill, King (Tenn.) and West Liberty.
Clifton Ruggiero took the 157-pound title in the Senators' last open in December, while
Noah Tarr strung together consecutive dual match victories against Seton Hill and King.
