ELKINS, W.Va. - Senators' Women's Lacrosse picked up their biggest home win of the season against Bethany College, holding a six-game winning streak.
Davis & Elkins put a strong pressure on the visitors and the team work paid off, as multiple players found their way into the net.
Kaitlin Howell was the first to score for the Senators, finding the net only 30 seconds into the game on an unassisted effort.
In the next ten minutes, D&E managed to score seven more goals, two of those scored by
Casey Johnson, and two more by
Kathleen Shaw. Hannah Bond and
Angelina Horan would also add one each to that count, followed by Howell, who scored her second of the day.
The Senators only allowed one goal by the end of the first half, taking a 8-1 lead into halftime.
D&E did not look back after the break and kept the pushing and breaking into Bethany's defense.
About 30 seconds in, Shaw scored her third in the game and so did Horan, while Bond scored her second goal.
Sarah Timmons and
Savannah Stanford also got on the scorers list, scoring one each, making it 15-1 halfway through the second half.
The visitors even scored a second goal after Stanford's goal but Horan responded with another one, her fourth today. Howell was the one to close it off for the Senators, scoring her third goal with three minutes left on the clock. The final score was 17-2 for Davis & Elkins.
D&E's goalie
Ebele De La Bay Coffie made nine important saves that helped Davis and Elkins maintain the large lead.
Kathleen Shaw led the Senators in Draw Controls. The Junior collected five in today's game.
The Senators will come back to action on March 27th against Wheeling Jesuit for a GMAC match-up. The game is set for 3:00 PM at Nuttall Field.
