Senators Win Physical Contest Against Notre Dame

ELKINS, W.Va. - Senators win tough battle against future Mountain East opponent Notre Dame College this afternoon at Nuttall Field in non-conference play.

Hannah Bond and Ryan Sumner were key players for the Senators as they scored together eight out of Davis and Elkins' 15 goals in the match, four each.

Kathleen Shaw and Angelina Horan were also important pieces in the game, they both scored three goals each. Horan collected three assists today.

The visitors were the first ones to score in the match. In less than a minute, the game was 1-0 for Notre Dame. However, about 15 seconds later, Sumner scored the first one for the Senators, followed by Horan, who turned the game around three minutes into the match.

Notre Dame even tied the game but couldn't stop Sumner, who scored two more in the half, along with Horan, who scored her second of the day.

Seana Soika and Kathleen Shaw also helped the Senators maintain the lead in the first period, scoring one goal each, taking a 7-5 lead into halftime.

After the break, Hannah Bond took action and scored her fourth goal of the season for the Senators only two minutes into the second half. About 40 seconds after that, Horan went on and scored her third goal in the game.

Bond was an important weapon for D&E in the second half. The freshman managed to score three more goals off of unassisted efforts.

Kathleen Shaw closed the count for the Senators scoring her third goal with only 25 seconds on the clock, ending the game at 15-9.

Ebela De La Bay Coffie played the whole game in goal for D&E, stopping Notre Dame from scoring in 14 opportunities.

The Senators will return to action next Tuesday against Bethany College for another non-conference contest. The game is set for 12:00 PM.
