ELKINS -
The Davis & Elkins College Acrobatics & Tumbling team picked up their first meet win in program history, defeating East Texas Baptist by a final score 239.555 to ETBU's 215.465 on Thursday night in the McDonnell Center.
The Senators capitalized on a dominant performance in all segments of the event, winning three of the Compulsory heats, all three of the Acro heats, all three of the Toss heats and all three of the Pyramid heats.
The Senators put it all together for the Team Event, winning with 86 out of a possible 110 points, the highest result in program history.
D&E also set program bests in the Acro, Pyramid, and Toss events en route to the first win in the history of the second-year program.
"The girls really came together with a common goal to get higher scores in each event, not worrying about their opponent, which helped fuel the victory," said Head Acrobatics & Tumbling Coach
Shelby Armstrong.
The Senators will return to the mat for a meet on Friday, March 22nd, their Code Red meet against Adrian College at 7 PM in the McDonnell Center.
