ERIE, Pa. -
Karin Rosario improved to 2-0 on her career in deciding matches, as her 6-0, 6-0 victory at #5 singles clinched a 4-3 win for the Senators over the Fighting Scots of Edinboro on Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The Senators picked up the doubles point, behind wins from
Ester Bolmenas/
Valentine Schwartz at #2 doubles (6-2), and a victory by
Laura Vargas/
Julianna Singleton by forfeit at #3 doubles.
Singleton also picked up a forfeit in her debut at #6 singles, as Edinboro only had five players.
The Scots rallied to tie the match at 2-2 with wins at the top two lines, as
Taylour Newman fell to regionally-ranked Laura Lopez at #1 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
Valentine Schwartz was dominant in her 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 singles, while
Ester Bolmenas fell in a tight three-setter, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at #3 singles.
Karin Rosario was equally dominant at #5 singles, drilling a forehand winner on match point to clinch the 4-3 victory for the Senators, to improve to 2-2 on the season.
The Senators will return to action on February 27th, as they will play host to the Lake Superior State. The match is currently slated for a 12 PM start in Elkins.
