ELKINS, W. Va. - Junior guard
Myles Monroe could not be stopped on Thursday, collecting a new career-high 29 points to go along with seven boards in a tough 87-77 overtime loss to Notre Dame (Ohio) inside the McDonnell Center.
Monroe posted all eight of the Senators points in the extra frame, but Notre Dame was clutch from the foul line, converting 11 of its final 12 attempts at the charity stripe to gain the double-digit win. Leading by as many as 13 in the second half, Davis & Elkins (4-6, 2-3 MEC) was outscored by 17 over the second half and overtime.
Donte Doleman posted 17 points in an extended 43 minutes of action, while
Erkam Kiris had 11 points in 20 minutes before exiting the game due to a lower body injury. Notre Dame (2-7, 1-4 MEC) converted three of its five attempts from the field in the overtime, but did its real damage from the foul line down the stretch.
The Falcons placed five players in double figures, led by a team-high 21 points from Drew Scarberry. Levis Franklin and Jordan Burton chipped in 17 points each, while DeAnthony Owens had 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Notre Dame got off to a quick start, but the Senators posted their first led on a Kiris layup, part of a 7-2 run around the first official media timeout of the night. Elliot White bumped the lead to five after firing home a three at 10:34 and put D&E in front on another trey at 9:16 for a 24-21 edge.
- Fable Burden canned a three from the left wing off an inbounds pass from Doleman to expand the lead to eight at 31-23. Monroe made it a double-digit advantage at 35-25 with a fastbreak layup off a lead pass from Patrick Wilburn.
- Monroe scored the Senators' first six points out of the locker room, and his third bucket widened the margin to 12 at 42-30. Doleman surged inside to hand the Senators their largest lead of the night at 50-37 at 14:01, but the Falcons quickly trimmed the deficit to six with just over 11 minutes remaining on a Scarberry layup.
- The Falcons made it a four-point game, but Doleman responded with a three before NDC answered right back with a trey of its own at 7:11. Burton made it a one-score game with a fastbreak hoop at the 1:27 mark and Owens sunk a pair of foul shots to tie the game at 69 with just under 40 seconds left in regulation.
- NDC never trailed in the overtime frame after hitting a three less than 10 seconds in. Monroe attempted to keep the Senators in the game, but the foul shooting of the Falcons proved to be the difference.

- While the final score may look more lopsided than it was, Thursday continued a trend of conference games coming down to the wire.
