ELKINS - The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team overcame a first half deficit to defeat Salem University 77-72 on Wednesday night at the McDonnell Center in non-conference play.
After the Senators went up 8-2, Salem went on a 21-0 run to take a 23-8 lead with 7:42 remaining in the first half.
However, the Senators rallied to take a 37-34 lead behind a 19-11 run over the remainder of the half.
Dominic Scott-Robinson led the way with 12 first half points.
In the second half,
Trevor English scored 16 and
Logan Phillips added another 11 as the Senators maintained a lead and sealed the victory.
English led all scorers with 24 points, while Scott-Robinson finished with 14.
English and Scott-Robinson shared a team-high eight rebounds.
Marcus Friend led the Senators with a game-high eight assists, to go along with eight points and three steals.
Phillips added a team high four steals to go with his 11 points and four rebounds.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday hosting Trevecca Nazarene. Tip-off is set for Noon at the McDonnell Center.
