ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to Hillsdale College 69-60 Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center in Great Midwest play.
The Senators who led for a majority of the contest couldn't stifle a comeback bid from the visitors as Hillsdale went on a 19-3 in under six minutes to overcome a nine-point deficit and take a seven-point lead with 3:06 remaining.
Three Senators finished in double figures as
Trevor English,
Donte Doleman and
Emre Yildirim all finished with 14 points.
English fell one rebound shy of a double-double, leading the Senators with nine boards. He also had three blocks and four assists, both team highs.
Doleman was 5-for-6 in the game and also collected five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Yildirim was 4-for-7 from behind the arc in the contest. He also had three rebounds in the game.
The Senators were fairly even with Hillsdale, as both teams shot 42 percent for the contest, while the Chargers had 34 rebounds to 33 for Davis & Elkins.
The big difference came in turnovers as the Senators lost possession 15 times to just seven for the visitors.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Wednesday, as the Senators host Salem at the McDonnell Center. Tipoff for the non-conference battle is set for 6 p.m.
