ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to the University of Findlay 97-73 Thursday night in the Senators first contest of 2019.
The Senators were unable to keep pace with the visitors, as the Oilers never trailed, jumping out to a 30-12 lead in the first ten minutes.
The big difference in the first half came in the field goal shooting, as the Senators shot just 28.1 percent, while the visitors were 57.1 percent from the field, including eight three pointers.
After Findlay took a 50-28 lead into the break, the visitors would go ahead by as much as 29 before the game leveled out.
Four different Senators finished in double figures with points.
Marcus Friend led the way for the Senator, going 5-of-6 from the field for 12 points.
Friend also led the Senators in steals (4) and assists (3).
Trevor English finished with a double-double, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Erkam Kiris and
Edmund Parker each scored 10 points each.
Emre Yildirim and
Logan Phillips had nine points each and
Tyler Twyman had eight points.
Kris was second in rebounds with five points, while Yildirim, Phillips and
James Rider had three boards each.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday, hosting Hillsdale. Tipoff is set for noon at the McDonnell Center.
