Softball Picks Up Split On the Road At Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Softball team earned a split against Cedarville Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, defeating the Yellow Jackets 2-0 before falling 8-1 in game two.
 
In game one, Allie Lapallo tossed a complete game shutout, scattering seven hits and a walk while striking out three.
 
The Senators took the lead with an Alyssa Cairns RBI single in the third, scoring Katie Manson.
 
Davis & Elkins extended its lead with a Sydney Turner double to left field in the fourth inning that scored Amy Fincham.
 
Brittany Wade, Rhetta Persinger and Manson finished with two hits each in the game.
 
In game two, the Yellow Jackets took the lead with three runs in the first inning and then added another run in the third.
 
The Senators scored their only run in the third inning with a sacrifice fly by Cairns to score Manson.
 
Cedarville would add three more runs in the third and a run in the sixth to cap off the scoring.
 
Jade Allee picked up the loss, allowing four runs in 2.2 innings pitched.
 
Persinger was the only Senator with multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-2 at the plate, capping off a 4-for-4 day overall.
 
The Senators will return to action on Tuesday, traveling up the road to Philippi to take on rival Alderson Broaddus. First pitch is set for a 5 p.m. start.
