COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Softball team dropped both games in its doubleheader at Ohio Dominican on Friday, falling 6-1 in game one and 10-1 in game two.
The Senators, who were originally scheduled to host the Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader that was moved due to expected weather conditions in Elkins, found themselves in a tight battle through the first three innings of game one.
Ohio Dominican would take the lead on a pair of solo homeruns in the fourth inning and then added runs in the fifth and sixth to go up 4-0.
The Senators would fall behind by two more runs as the Panthers added insurance with a pair of RBI singles.
Rhetta Persinger would score the only run for the Senators, hitting a homerun to left center.
Allie Lapallo picked up the loss, allowing 12 hits and all six runs. Lapallo finished with seven strikeouts.
Kelsie Millner had two of the Senators five hits in the game.
Davis & Elkins struggled offensively in game two as well, as the Senators were held to just one hit in the game.
Ohio Dominican jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four hits, including a homerun in the inning.
The Panthers would hit another homerun and an RBI base hit to score three runs in the third inning. The hosts would score three more in the fourth to go up 10-0.
With the bases loaded in the fifth,
Kelsie Millner grounded into a fielder's choice that scored
Sydney Turner for the only Senators run.
Victoria Krystynak picked up the loss, allowing three runs, two earned on two hits.
Jade Allee tossed the majority of the innings, with Lapallo also tossing 1.2 innings. Lapallo had three strikeouts.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday as they remain in Ohio for another G-MAC doubleheader, facing Cedarville. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. against the Yellow Jackets.
