ELKINS, W.Va. - The Davis & Elkins College Softball team earned a split with Trevecca Nazarene this afternoon winning 6-3 before falling 9-1 at Joni Smith Field in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action.

After a quick first three innings, the Senators broke open the game with a four-run inning.
Rhetta Persinger started the scoring for the Senators with her RBI single to left center that scored
Kelsie Millner.

The Senators then capitalized on an error to extend the inning and score three more runs.
Jade Allee scored on the play with the error on a ball in play by
Allie Lapallo.

Jordan Crawford then doubled to right center to score
Sydney Turner and Lapallo.
Â
In the fifth inning, the Senators added two more runs. The first came on a Persinger double to center that scored Millner.

After Allee pinch ran for Persinger, Turner doubled to score Allee from second and cap the scoring.

In the sixth inning, Trevecca would string together several hits and plated three runs, but the Senators defense held on and kept the Trojans scoreless in the seventh to seal the victory.

Millner led the Senators with three hits in the game. Persinger had two hits and finished with two RBIs.

Lapallo picked up the win in the circle, tossing all seven innings, allowing seven hits while striking out four.

In game two, the Senators fell behind in the second inning, as Trevecca used a solo homerun to go up 1-0.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Senators loaded the bases, but were only able to score one run on a
Katie Manson ground out the allowed Crawford to score from third.

Trevecca answered back with a run in the third to retake the lead.

The Senators fell behind even further in the fourth as the Trojans scored four runs and then would add three more in the fifth.

Davis & Elkins was held to just three hits in the game.

Allee picked up the loss in the circle, allowing six runs, three earned, in 3.1 innings. She had two strikeouts.

The Senators will return to action on Monday as they travel to Beckley to take on West Virginia Tech in non-conference action. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. against the Golden Bears.
