HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team fell in the second half to Georgian Court Tuesday evening at Nuttall Field.
The Senators held a 6-4 lead at the halftime break, but a 3-minute un-releasable penalty against the hosts gave the Lions a chance to get back into the game.
Georgian Court would score twice on the man-advantage to tie the game up and then scored two more to take an 8-6 lead.
Davis & Elkins would score two of the next three goals with efforts from
Haydn Sitler and
Matthew Dyck to cut the difference to one at 9-8.
However, the Lions would go on a run to pull away, scoring 10-straight goals to take a commanding 19-8 lead.
Dyck and Sitler would score the final two goals of the contest.
Trailing 2-0, the Senators went on a run to score four straight goals, starting with
Kyle Durec's effort at 10:33 in the first half.
Kyle Seago would then score at 8:28 on an assist from Durec.
At 5:15, the Senators took the lead with
Matt O'Dwyer scoring on an assist from
Steven Wentz and Durec added his second goal on a pass from Sitler.
Georgian Court would start the second quarter with two goals, however Durec would secure a first-half hat trick and O'Dwyer would add his second goal of the game to take a 6-4 lead into the break.
The Senators would go 3-for-10 on extra-man opportunities in the game while the Lions would go 5-for 6.
Georgian Court led the Senators in faceoffs, winning 21-11. The Lions also held the advantage in ground balls, leading 46-27.
Davis & Elkins will have over a week off before returning to action on Saturday as the Senators take on Mercyhurst on March 17. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
