Women's Lacrosse Beat By Findlay In G-MAC Action

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Lacrosse team fell to the University of Findlay 19-2 Friday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action at Nuttall Field.

The Senators fell behind early, as the visitors scored less than three minutes in to take the lead.

Davis & Elkins responded as Gabby Fagan scored from a free-position attempt to tie the game at one with her sixth goal of the season.

However, the Oilers would reel off 13-straight goals to close out the first half and take a 14-1 lead into the break.

The Senators wouldn't get many more quality opportunities, but Fagan scored her second of the game from another free-position opportunity just 39 seconds into the second half.

Davis & Elkins had twice as many turnovers (28) in the game compared to Findlay (14), and the Senators were also outshot in the game 50-5.

The Senators had seven draw controls in the game, while the visitors finished with 14. D&E was also outnumbered in ground balls, losing the battle 27-18.

Samantha Cozzolino led the Senators with three draw controls.

Ebele De La Bay Coffie came into the game in the second half for the Senators and made eight stops on 13 shots on goal faced. She also had seven ground balls.

Kathleen Shaw led the Senators with two caused turnovers.

The Senators will return to action next Friday, as they travel to northeast Ohio to take on Ursuline for another G-MAC battle. That match is set to begin at 5 p.m. in Pepper Pike.
