MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Tennis team dropped its Great Midwest Athletic Conference match with Walsh on Friday at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
The Senators fell behind 0-3 after doubles.
Obert Matthew Mulyadi and
Alejandro Meseguer had the closest match at No. 1 doubles, falling 8-5 to Vasily Vidmanov and Filipp Kulynych.
Andrew Shand and
Tristram Spitsnaugle also had a close battle at No. 2 doubles, falling to Rodrigo Garcia and Heitor Adegas 8-4.
In singles action, Shand picked up the only win for the Senators at the No. 2 match. Shand overcame a 6-0 loss in set one to win 6-2 and 6-3 in sets two and three for the victory.
Alejandro Meseguer and
Tristram Spitsnaugle each started strong in their matches. Meseguer fell in a tie breaker in set one before eventually dropping his match 7-6 (2), 6-0. Spitsnaugle fell 7-5, 6-0.
The Senators will return to action next Saturday, as they go on the road to face Findlay in Ohio. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start.
