Acrobatics & Tumbling Sets Several Program Marks In Loss To West Liberty

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Acrobatics & Tumbling team lost in its dual meet with West Liberty University Thursday night at the McDonnell Center, falling 230.560 – 143.725.

Despite the loss, the Senators earned 11 heat victories on the night, including a pair of overall event victories. The Senators also set 14 program high marks in heat events and set four new overall event high marks on the night.

The Senators picked up two heat victories in the Compulsory Event, winning the acro heat with a 5.6 and the toss heat with a 9.4. Both scores were program highs, along with the Senators 5.1 in the tumbling heat.

Davis & Elkins would then pick up two victories in the Acro Event. The Senators won the 6 Element and 7 Element heats with scores of 9.25 and 9.15, both of which were also program marks. The Senators also picked up the overall win in the Acro Event scoring a program high 25.0.

The Senators would carry on the momentum into the Pyramid Event, where they would sweep West Liberty with program high scores of 9.7, 9.15 and 9.4. Davis & Elkins won the event with a 28.25, which also was a program best.

Davis & Elkins then won two heats in the Toss Event, scoring an 8.25 in the Synchronized heat and an 8.4 in the open heat, both marks scoring a program best in the heat.

However, the Senators would fall overall in the event, despite another program mark with an event total of 24.8.

In the Tumbling Event, Davis & Elkins would set four program marks and earned two heat victories.

Sarah Smith and Deanna Blood's duo tumbling pass earned a heat victory with a 7.0, while Blood also won in the open pass with an 8.7. Blood's open pass was also a program best in the heat.

Smith, Kassidy Montondo and Cheyenna Liddell-Jones would set a program high in the triple pass with a 6.2.

Montondo and Smith would also set program highs in the aerial pass and 6-element pass, scoring 7.3 and 7.625, respectively.

Davis & Elkins would score a 40.425 in the tumbling event, which too was a program high for the total event.

The Senators will return to action on April 4, closing out the regular season as Fairmont State will make the trip to Elkins. The Senators and Fairmont State are set to compete at 7 p.m. in the McDonnell Center.
