ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Tennis team fell 8-1 in a non-conference contest with Salem University Monday afternoon at the Thomas Tennis Center.
The Senators struggled early on against the Tigers, with
Obert Matthew Mulyadi and
Jacob Bowman's point in their 8-1 loss to Ivan Aevalo and Landon Schultz-Zwahr being the only point scored for the hosts.
Once in single play, the Senators found themselves in a pair of tiebreakers at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Mulyadi got the better of his opponent in the No. 1 match defeating Patryk Garwacki 10-6 in the tiebreaker after winning 7-5 in the opening set and falling 3-6 in set two.
Andrew Shand was the other Senator to make a tiebreaker third set after winning 7-6 and falling 3-6 in the first two sets against Aevalo. Shand would eventually fall 10-8 to Aevalo in the tiebreaker.
The Senators will return to action on Friday against the Walsh University. The match is set for a 12 p.m. first serve in Morgantown.
