PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Lacrosse team dropped its Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener to Alderson Broaddus 18-2 on Saturday.
The Senators would fall behind early, as Alderson Broaddus scored eight goals in the first 15 minutes to take a commanding lead.
Kathleen Shaw put the Senators on the scoresheet with 14:38 to go in the first half from a shot within the circle.
After the Battlers scored,
Samantha Cozzolino answered back for the Senators, as she scored her first career goal for the second and final goal of the game for the Senators.
The Senators would give up three more goals in the first half, going into the break trailing 12-2.
The hosts would outscore D&E 6-0 in the second half to close out the scoring.
Davis & Elkins was outshot in the game 36-18, with the Senators putting 10 of their shots on goal.
The Senators would have 15 turnovers in the game and lost the draw control battle 12-9. The Senators would also have six free-position shots and failed to score on any in the contest.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Thursday, as the Senators host Walsh. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start at Nuttall Field.
