VIENNA, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's basketball team fell on the road at Ohio Valley University 91-83 Thursday night in Great Midwest play.
The Senators jumped out to an early lead, going up by eight before the hosts would tie things back up. Davis & Elkins would regain the lead by 22-15, but Ohio Valley would come back to take a late lead and go into the break up 39-37.
The Senators would answer back and hold the lead at the halfway point of the second half, but Davis & Elkins would be unable to spoil the host's night, as the Fighting Scots took the lead with 8:09 to go and never relinquished it.
Edmund Parker led the way for the Senators in scoring, finishing with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including five three pointers. Parker would also add seven rebounds.
Rickenjee Bellevue had a big night on the glass for the Senators, collecting 19 rebounds to go along with 15 points for a double-double. Bellevue finished with 14 offensive boards in the game, a large part of helping the Senators to 27 second-chance points.
Trevor English also had 15 points for the Senators and added seven rebounds.
Jordan McElveen also finished in double digits with 13 points. McElveen finished one rebound shy of a double-double.
The Senators outrebounded Ohio Valley 54-35 in the game, but D&E allowed Ohio Valley to shoot 53 percent in the game.
Davis & Elkins will look to rebound next Thursday when they return to the McDonnell Center to take on Trevecca Nazarene. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. start..
