ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Acrobatics & Tumbling team fell to West Virginia Wesleyan in the Senators season opener and first ever official meet Monday evening, falling to the Bobcats 238.090-128.450.
With a big crowd of approximately 450 in attendance to witness the Senators make their debut, Davis & Elkins had several strong events, including a victory in heat 1 of the pyramid section.

Olivia Kelley,
Ann Weidmayer,
Caitlynn Guzman,
Rebecca Smith and
Cheyenna Liddell-Jones, Davis & Elkins scored 9.1 on its heat, which was one of the best scores of the evening.
Compulsory Toss was another successful heat for D&E, who scored 8.4. Overall in Compulsory, the Senators score 25.85 in the four heats, while West Virginia Wesleyan scored 33.10.
In the Acro event, the group of
Kassidy Montondo, Nelson,
Deanna Blood and
Alexxis Tswago scored 8.0 for the highest D&E mark in the section. The Senators would score 21.55 overall for event two, while the Bobcats scored 26.15.
In the Pyramid events, Wesleyan would outscore D&E 26.2 to 21.4, taking a 85.45-68.80 lead into the halftime break.
Coming out of halftime, D&E would complete the three toss heats with a score of 21.1, three points behind the Bobcats.
In tumbling, the Senators were led by the duo performance of
Sarah Smith and Blood, along with Blood's 6-element pass as both heats scored 7.5 points. Blood successfully completed her 6-element pass for the first time in the event.
Overall for tumbling the Senators would score 38.55 points, as the visitors scored 44.1.
Davis & Elkins would not compete in the team event, where West Virginia Wesleyan scored 84.44 points to close out the meet.
The Senators will now have over a month off before they travel to West Liberty on March 9 to participate in a tri-meet with West Liberty and Hawaii Pacific. The meet will be at 6 p.m.
