ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team dropped its Great Midwest home opener in overtime to Alderson Broaddus 84-79 Thursday night at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators held a six-point lead late in the contest, but the visitors tied the game up with a pair of three pointers in the final 80 seconds, including one with 6.7 seconds left to put the game into overtime.
Two quick baskets with a and-one opportunity gave the Battlers a five-point lead early in the overtime period and the Senators were unable to completely recover.
Edmund Parker led the way for the Senators offensively, scoring 22 points, including four of the Senators' eight three pointers. Parker also had six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Trevor English joined Parker in double figures as he collected his second double-double of the season with 12 points and a game high 16 rebounds. English also had a block and an assist.
Marcus Friend was also in double figures for the Senators off the bench. Friend scored 17 points and led the team with four steals.
Donte Doleman led with six of the Senators 15 assists in the game.
Davis & Elkins will have a week off before returning to action next Thursday in another home contest, welcoming in Ohio Dominican for a Great Midwest doubleheader.
