PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team dropped its Great Midwest opener on Saturday, falling to Lake Erie College 77-64.
The Senators fell behind early to the Storm, as the hosts jumped out to an 18-point lead in the first half with 53 percent shooting from the field while also forcing 13 turnovers from the Senators.
Davis & Elkins would hold Lake Erie to just 33 percent shooting in the second half, but the Senators were only able to edge the Storm by one point offensively over the final 20 minutes.
Trevor English had 11 points in each half to finish with a team high 22 points in the contest. English also led the Senators on the glass with eight rebounds and had two of Dav9s & Elkins' five assists.
Edmund Parker joined English in double figures, finishing with 11 points in the game, while also collecting four boards.
Davis & Elkins shot 44 percent from the field in the contest, matching Lake Erie, but the Senators had 23 turnovers, 10 more than the hosts, who collected 26 points off the Senators' mistakes.
The Senators were also just 52 percent from the free-throw line in the game, going 15-for-29.
Davis & Elkins will look to rebound with their Great Midwest home opener on Thursday, hosting rival Alderson Broaddus. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the McDonnell Center.
