ELKINS - The Davis & Elkins Men's Basketball team fell to the University of Charleston 99-68 in a non-conference contest Wednesday night.
After an even start over the first couple of minutes, the visitors got hot from the field, hitting nearly every shot as they pulled away on a 26-8 run through the middle eight minutes of the half.
The Senators were unable to gain ground back on Charleston, as the visitors shot 62 percent from the field including 12 three pointers.
Freshman
James Rider led the way for the Senators, scoring 10 points with an assist in 11 minutes off the bench.
The Senators had a team performance on the glass, with 11 players grabbing at least one rebound.
Dominic Scott-Robinson led Davis & Elkins with five rebounds in the game. He also had six points in 16 minutes off the bench.
Logan Phillips and
Patrick Wilburn each had four rebounds. Phillips had six points, while Wliburn had five points, a block, and a steal.
Emre Yildirim and
Donte Doleman each scored nine points for the Senators. Yildirim also had two rebounds and a steal.
Trevor English,
Marcus Friend, and
Tyler Twyman all had six points for Davis & Elkins.
The Senators shot 41 percent on the night and were 9-12 from the free-throw line in the game.
Davis & Elkins will play again in just under a week, traveling to Pennsylvania to face Clarion University on November 20. Tip off is set for 2 p.m.
