Women's Soccer's Season Ends In G-MAC Quarterfinals At Trevecca

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Soccer team's season came to a close Saturday night as the Senators fell to Trevecca Nazarene University 2-0 in the Quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Senators, who came into the contest as the No. 7 seed, challenged the No. 2 seed Trojans early on with several quality scoring chances.

Asheli Freed and Natalia Ruiz Guerrero both had quality scoring chances in the middle portion of the first half, with both shots sailing just over the crossbar.

Shortly after Ruiz Guerrero's shot, Trevecca responded and scored the opening goal, as Madison Carby played a through ball ahead to Makena Schlosser, who beat Lauren Hill to give the hosts the lead.

The Senators responded with a couple more quality chances, as Freed and Ruiz Guerrero both had efforts saved by Delayna Holman.

Alyssa Jacobs would have one final chance seconds before the half, but her effort was stopped as well.

The game was back-and-forth in the second half with both teams getting several chances. The Senators would fire three shots on target, but all were stopped by Holman.

Trevecca would have six shots on target, with the final shot sealing the victory for the Trojans as Carby scored on a breakaway goal on a counter attack.

With the loss, the Senators season comes to a close under first-year head coach Doris Sullivan. This will be the final season for the Senators in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, as Davis & Elkins moves to the Mountain East in 2019.
