NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to Trevecca Nazarene 81-76 on Saturday.
The Senators traded the lead early and often with Trevecca and the Senators held a lead until late in the first half before the hosts took the lead with a pair of free throws with 1:21 left.
Early in the second half the Senators would tie things up with the Trojans at 41, but that would be as close as Davis & Elkins would get, as Trevecca opened up a small advantage and held onto the lead.
Trevor English picked up a double-double, recording a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 12 points. English also had three assists, a block and a steal.
Kevin Simpson led the scoring for the Senators, finishing with 19 points. Simpson also had a team-high seven assists and a steal in the contest.
Jordan McElveen (15) and
Rickenjee Bellevue (13) also finished in double digits for the Senators. McElveen was second on the team with seven rebounds and Bellevue also pulled down five boards.
Davis & Elkins will return home to face Malone in their next game. The Senators will host the Pioneers on Thursday, January 25, with a tip off set for 7:30 p.m. in the McDonnell Center.
