ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to Malone University 68-63 in Great Midwest play at the McDonnell Center on Thursday night.
The Senators were in a back and forth battle with the Pioneers, with neither team getting larger than a 7-point lead over the course of the entire game. However, the visitors were able to pull away slightly over the final minutes and Davis & Elkins was unable to charge a comeback.
Trevor English led all scorers in the game with 19 points, as well as his 10 rebounds, as the sophomore collected a double-double. English also had a block in 31 minutes of action.
Rickenjee Bellevue was also in double digits, as the senior shot 7-for-9 from the field and finished with 14 points. Bellevue was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with nine boards.
Davis & Elkins shot 41 percent in the game, but just 30 percent from 3-point range. The visitors were 51 percent from the field.
The Senators outrebounded Malone 33-32 in the contest with both teams having 10 turnovers each.
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Saturday, as the Senators host Walsh at 2 p.m. inside the McDonnell Center.
