OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell on the road to the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers 77-65 on Thursday night in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, despite a big performance from
Rickenjee Bellevue off the bench.
Bellevue recorded his third straight double-double as he led all players with 16 rebounds, while also sharing in a game-high 14 points with three other players, including
Jordan McElveen.
The Senators struggled in the first half, shooting just 28 percent from the field as the hosts outscored D&E 42-23.
Davis & Elkins would recover well in the second half, shooting 41 percent from the field, while also outrebounding Kentucky Wesleyan and forcing more turnovers, but the Senators were unable to close the gap to single digits in the second half.
McElveen joined Bellevue with a game-high 14 points for the Senators, while
Kevin Simpson,
Edmund Parker and
Trevor English all finished in double figures.
Parker was the second-leading rebounder for the Senators in the game, grabbing seven boards to go along with his 10 points. Parker also had three steals and a block.
Simpson added four assists and two rebounds to his 12-point performance, while English grabbed sig boards and a steal to go with his 10 points.
The Senators will look to bounce back on Saturday as they travel to Nashville, Tennessee to take on Trevecca Nazarene. Tip of is set for 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT.
