ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team's comeback bid fell short Thursday night, as the Senators fell to Ohio Dominican 79-67 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Senators struggled early and fell behind 25-7 just 7:25 into the game. However, the hosts would slowly chip away at Ohio Dominican's lead through the remainder of the first half and into the second half.
With six minutes to go in the game,
Edmund Parker's three pointer cut the lead to 64-60 for Ohio Dominican, the closest it had been since 17:35 in the first half.
However, it would be as close as the Senators could get, as the Panthers pulled away over the final minutes so hand D&E the loss.
Rickenjee Bellevue recorded a double-double in his first full game back for the Senators, sharing for a team high 16 points with
Jordan McElveen. Bellevue also pulled down 11 rebounds in the contest.
Kevin Simpson and
Trevor English also finished in double figures with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.
Edmund Parker was the second-leading rebounder for the Senators, grabbing seven boards in the contest. Parker also had a team high five assists and finished with six points.
The Senators will return to action on Saturday as they face Cedarville. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the McDonnell Center.
