CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team opened up the weekend at the California (PA) Vulcan Invitational with a split in the two games on Friday.
The Senators got off to a winning start by defeating Daemen 3-1. However, the Senators fell to California 3-0 in the second game of the night.
Kaitlyn LaCour,
Sasha Johnson, and
Anna Gallup led the team with 12, 9, and 8 kills respectively in game one.
The Senators won the first two sets against Daemen by scores of 25-22. After falling 25-12 in set three, the Senators came back with a 25-20 victory to seal the four-set victory.
Kelly Smith led the team in digs with 13, followed by LaCour at 10 and
Zoe Craig at 9.
In game two, the Senators struggled to keep up with the hosts with a pair of 25-17 defeats in the first two sets. The Senators would make a run in the throes set. It eventually fell 25-23.
Anna Gallup led the way for the Senators with 11 kills in the game. She also had an assisted block for 11.5 points.
Smith led the Senators again with 14 digs. While Craig finished with 10 assists.
The Senators will return to action Saturday morning with the final game of the weekend against Le Moyne College at 10 a.m.
