Women's Lacrosse Loses G-MAC Battle vs Ursuline

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Lacrosse team fell to Ursuline College 19-10 on Saturday at Nuttall Field to open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
 
The Senators had their biggest offensive output of the season, as six different Senators scored in the game, including hat tricks from Olivia Owens and Gabby Fagan.
 
The Senators fell behind early as the Arrows scored 18 seconds in and added three more to take a 4-0 lead.
 
However, D&E responded in a big way, as Tonisha Washington scored her first goal as a Senator eight minutes in. Owens followed it up with another goal for the Senators.
 
Fagan then scored and Owens added her second of the game to tie the contest up at 4 just past halfway in the first half.
 
Ursuline would respond with the next three goals, including one in a woman-up advantage. Fagan would end the run with her second of the game, but Ursuline would score six straight to end the half.
 
Starting the second half, Owens and Savannah Stanford got D&E back on the scoresheet and cut the deficit to 13-7.
 
Ursuline would respond with three goals before Natalie Green scored her first goal of the season.
 
Fagan and Morgan Graham would add the final goals of the game for the Senators.
 
Defensively, Green led the Senators with three caused turnovers in the contest. Stanford and Graham each had two.
 
Stanford and Owens led the team with three draw controls each.
 
Surelys Baez played the first 26 minutes, making seven saves while allowing 11 goals. Ebele De La Bay Coffie played the final 34 minutes, making six saves with eight goals allowed.
 
De La Bay Coffie also led the Senators with five ground balls. Owens had four and Baez finished with three.
 
The Senators will return to action on Wednesday with Senior Night against West Virginia Wesleyan. The game is set for a 7 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
