Softball Splits With AB In Glenville

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Softball team split with Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader.
 
The Senators fell to a late comeback in game one against the Battlers 4-3, but rebounded to win in extra innings with a 1-0 victory in game two.
 
In game one, the Senators fell behind 2-0 in the third inning, but Davis & Elkins responded with three runs on a pair of homeruns in the fourth to take the lead.
 
Danielle Norton hit a solo homerun to start the scoring and a few batters later, Rhetta Persinger hit a two-run homerun to put D&E ahead 3-2.
 
Persinger finished with three hits in the game and Norton had two.
 
However, the Senators would fall as Alderson Broaddus scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh.
 
In game two, Sara Tobin pitched a scoreless 6 1/3 innings for the Senators as the starter. However, the Senators were unable to score, being held scoreless into the second extra inning.
 
With two outs and runners on second and third base, the Senators took the lead with Alyssa Cairns' ball in play to third.
 
Morgan Tandarich led the Senators with a pair of hits. She also had one of three doubles for the Senators in the game.
 
Victoria Krystynak picked up the win in relief, going 2.2 innings with two hits and one strikeout.
 
The Senators will return to action this weekend with a trip to Malone for a four-game G-MAC series. Saturday is set to start at 3 p.m.
