Men's Lacrosse Drops Battle With Wheeling Jesuit

ELKINS – The Senators Men's Lacrosse team fell to Wheeling Jesuit University 18-7 on Wednesday night at Nuttall Field.

Luke Norcross set a school record 30 saves in the game for Davis & Elkins College and led the team with nine ground balls in the game.

The Senators started the scoring, as Matt O'Dwyer scored the first of his three goals on the night at 11:42 of the first half, off an assist from Mike Tokar.

However, Wheeling Jesuit would answer back almost immediately and then scored five more goals before Jordan Waddell's sixth goal of the season at 10:15 in the second half.

O'Dwyer grabbed the next goal as well, nearly five minutes later to cut the deficit to 6-3.

The visitors would then grab two more goals before halftime.

Patrick Schneck started the scoring coming out of the half with his 12th goal of the year, but Wheeling Jesuit would respond with 10 of the next 11 goals.

Jay Baumgardner scored with 5:36 remaining in the third quarter. O'Dwyer and Tokar would wrap up the scoring late in the fourth.

Brett Metheny, Noah Jessey, Michael Holstein and Baumgardner each had two caused turnovers in the game.

Behind Norcross' nine ground balls, Metheny led the way with six, while Jessey and Zach Cotoni each had five.

The Senators will now have nearly a two-week break before returning to action at Walsh University on April 18. The game is set for a 4 p.m. faceoff in North Canton, Ohio.
