Senators Fall To Lake Erie In G-MAC Battle

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team dropped its G-MAC battle with Lake Erie College 17-4 on Sunday at Nuttall Field.
 
The Senators (2-8, 0-3 G-MAC) started out strong, scoring the first three goals of the game, including a goal a man down, but the Storm (5-4, 4-0 G-MAC) came back with four unanswered to close the first quarter and reeled off seven more goals in the second and third before the Senators could answer.
 
Jordan Waddell started the scoring on an unassisted play, coming in from out of the zone to score a man down for his fifth goal of the year.
 
Matt O'Dwyer added the Senators second tally less than three minutes later with his 21st of the season on an assist from Zach Cotoni.
 
Cotoni would set up another just 54 seconds later, as he fed Kyle Durec, who scored his sixth goal of the campaign with 8:01 remaining in the first quarter.
 
Cotoni would also end the 11-goal streak by Lake Erie with his ninth goal of the season five minutes into the third quarter.
 
Kyle Seago played all 60 minutes for the Senators, stopping 16 shots in the game.
 
Aidan O'Dwyer led the Senators with five ground balls in the game and shared in the team lead with two caused turnovers.
 
Michael Holstein and Quinn Beavis also had a pair of caused turnovers in the game and the duo also had a pair of ground balls each.
 
The Senators will return to action on Wednesday, as they host Wheeling Jesuit. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
