Senators Drop G-MAC Openers At Trevecca

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College softball team fell in a pair of tight battles to Trevecca Nazarene to open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.

In games originally schedule at home for the Senators (7-7, 0-2) but moved to Nashville due to unplayable conditions in Elkins, Davis & Elkins fell 2-0 and 4-0 to the Trojans (12-15, 2-0).

In game one, the only difference between the two teams was a two-run homerun by Trevecca in the second inning, as both teams finished with five hits and an error.

Pitcher Allie Lapallo tossed all seven innings in the loss, while Alyssa Cairns led offensively with a hit and a walk.

The Senators stranded a pair of base runners in the third, as a fly out left runners at 2nd and 3rd base.

In the fifth, the Senators loaded the bases with one out, but a force out at home and a ground out ended the inning, stranding all three.

In game two, the Senators fell behind early as Trevecca scored in the top of the first on a wild pitch.

The game stayed the same until another two-run homerun led a three-run inning in the sixth, as the Trojans pulled off a 4-0 victory.

Danielle Norton led the team with two hits in the game. Victoria Krystynak pitched six innings in the loss.

The Senators will look to rebound on Saturday with the final two games of the series.
