LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team fell short in a comeback bid at Georgia Court University on Tuesday, losing 11-9.
The Senators would fall behind quickly, as the hosts would score 45 seconds in to go up 1-0 and then add three more goals in the next seven minutes to take a 4-0 lead.
Patrick Schneck would start the scoring for the Senators with his 10
th goal of the season at the 6:50 mark of the first quarter.
Georgian Court would score three of the next four goals to go up 7-2.
Matt O'Dwyer would score the final goal of the first half, his second of the game, with a man-up strike with 5:25 remaining in the second.
After O'Dwyer started the scoring in the third, Georgian Court would score twice to take a 9-4 lead.
The Senators would then make a strong comeback charge as O'Dwyer,
Zach Cotoni,
Kyle Durec and
Jay Baumgardner would score in less than a three-minute span to close the third quarter and bring the Senators to within one.
However, Georgian Court would score the first two goals of the fourth and
Ian Nelson's strike late on would only cut the deficit back to two.
The Senators will return home and face Lees-McRae on Saturday. The game is set for a 1 p.m. faceoff at Nuttall Field.
