PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Lacrosse team fell to Lake Erie 17-1 on the road Friday night.
The Senators struggled early as the undefeated hosts outshot the Senators 20-1 in the first half, taking a 14-0 lead into the break at the half.
Davis & Elkins had a much stronger defensive output in the second half, holding the Storm to just five goals on 10 shots.
Olivia Owens picked up the goal for the Senators, scoring on a free-position shot with 18:52 remaining. Owens also had a ground ball and a draw control in the game.
Kathleen Shaw and
Ebele De La Bay Coffie led the Senators with two ground balls each. Shaw also led the team with a pair of draw controls.
Gabby Fagan and
Savannah Stanford led the Senators with a caused turnover each.
The Senators will return to action on Wednesday as Davis & Elkins will travel to Charleston to take on the University of Charleston. The game is set for a 5 p.m. start.
