Senators Fall In Overtime Heartbreaker To Dominican

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team fell to Dominican (NY) College in overtime, as the Senators comeback bid falls short, 13-12.
 
Leading 10-9, the Senators fell behind after two goals by the Chargers in 21 seconds. After tying the game at 11, the Senators fell behind again when Dominican went up with 1:20 remaining.
 
However, Kyle Durec scored his second goal of the season on a man advantage for the Senators with six seconds remaining to force a sudden-death overtime.
 
The Senators would win the faceoff, but a turnover gave the Chargers the possession and the visitors capitalized with a goal 1:36 remaining in the overtime session to secure the victory.
 
Davis & Elkins took the lead in the first quarter, going up 3-2 on one of Matt O'Dwyer's four goals. However, Dominican scored four-straight goals to take the lead.
 
The Senators would tie the game at six before the Chargers scored to go up 7-6, taking the advantage into the break.
 
Matthew Dyck scored two goals for the Senators and had three assists, collecting a team-high five points in the contest.
 
Jordan Waddell and Connor Shantz each had a goal and three assists.
 
Kyle Seago finished with 23 saves and had a team-high seven ground balls.
 
Zach Cotoni led field players with six ground balls, while Durec, Brett Metheny and Noah Jessey all had five ground balls.
 
Metheny led all Senators with four caused turnovers and Jessey finished with three.
 
The Senators will return to action next week, on the road for the second time this season, as they travel to Lakewood, New Jersey to take on Georgian Court on Tuesday. Faceoff is set for 3:#0 p.m.
