Women's Lacrosse Drops Road Contest At Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Lacrosse team fell to Montevallo University 17-4 Saturday afternoon.
 
The Senators took the lead in the 6th minute of the contest with a goal from Desma Feather. However, the lead was short-lived as the Falcons answered back with a pair of goals in the next few minutes.
 
Montevallo would reel of five consecutive goals before Gabby Fagan answered with 8:51 remaining in the first half to make it 5-2 to the hosts. The goal is Fagan's third of the season, which is the team lead.
 
Morgan Graham would pick up her first goal of the year nearly six minutes later as she cut the deficit to 5-3 off a pass from Feather.
 
However, the Senators would give up two more goals before the half, heading into the break trailing 7-3.
 
Montevallo would start the second half much like they ended the first half, scoring nine straight over 219 minutes, giving the Falcons an 11-0 run.
 
Savannah Stanford would score the final goal for the Senators in a man-advantage situation with 4:26 left. Grayson Blythe had an assist on the play.
 
Olivia Owens led the Senators with five ground balls in the game. Ebele De La Bay Coffie had four ground balls, while Fagan, Bethany Fulk and Natalie Green finished with two ground balls each.
 
Green led the team with a pair of caused turnovers, while Owens and Sonja Skinner also had one each.
 
De La Bay Coffie finished with 10 saves in the game, playing all 60 minutes for the Senators.
 
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Tuesday, as the Senators play host to Top-15 ranked Grand Valley State. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start at Nutall Field.
