VIENNA, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team jumped out to a big lead on Saturday and cruised to a 90-51 win over Ohio Valley University in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
After Ohio Valley (1-18, 1-7 G-MAC) took a 4-3 lead, the Senators (10-12, 5-3 G-MAC) used a 34-0 run in under 10 minutes to pull away from the Fighting Scots.
The Senators continued to pull away, taking a 58-17 lead into the break. Davis & Elkins continued to build the lead in the second half, going up by as much as 44, before cruising to the victory.
Rickenjee Bellevue and
Kevin Simpson led the Senators in scoring with 17 points each. Bellevuee also grabbed 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
Bellevue also had two blocks and two steals in the game. Simpson chipped in with a pair of rebounds and assists as well.
Kevin Bracy-Davis kept his double-digit point streak going as he scored 14 points, extending the streak to 22.
Teron Owens came off the bench to score nine points for the Senators, while
Donte Doleman and
Trevor English each scored eight points.
The Senators will return home for their next three games, which starts with a game against Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip at the McDonnell Center.
