NEW CONCORD, Ohio. – The Men's Soccer Team scored two goals in the second half to defeat Findlay 2-1 at North Athletic Turf Field Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Senators advance to Saturday's G-MAC Championship Game, where they play Ohio Valley.
The Senators and the Oilers were unable to score in the first half, despite having goal scoring chances from both sides.
In the second half, D&E broke the deadlock in the 64
th minute when
Tim Staerz scored from a
Simon Hestad assist.
In the 78
th minute, Staerz returned the favor by providing Hestad with an assist.
However, two minutes later, Findlay scored when Kegan Winkler headed the ball into the net from a Jacob Montag pass.
The Senators held on to win the game after enduring waves of attack from the Oilers.
Staerz has scored four goals in three straight games for the Senators, bringing his season goal total to 13. Staerz also had an assist in this game, bringing his season assist total to five.
The Senators will take on the top seeded Ohio Valley on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the G-MAC Championship Game. D&E tied Ohio Valley 1-1 in the only meeting between the two schools this season.
