INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins Men's Basketball Team fell to West Virginia State Thursday night 109-87.
The Yellow Jackets started the first half strong and cruised to an early lead, and led by 22 in the first half.
However, the Senators kept the game close in the second half but were unable to cut into the Yellow Jackets' lead, ultimately losing 87-109.
Redshirt Sophomore
Trevor English led the team in scoring and had his first career double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
Donte Doleman scored 19 points in the game, and was 12-14 from the free throw line.
Junior
Logan Phillips also had a career night, scoring 18 points and grabbing five boards and shot 8-8 from the free throw line.
Edmund Parker had a solid game for the second game in a row and came close to a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
D&E shot well in the free throw line, making 31-37 free throws.
The Senators return to action on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to take on Clarion at home.
