CANTON, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins Men's Basketball team overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Malone University 85-77 on the road to open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play with a victory.
The Senators (6-9, 1-0 G-MAC) trailed by as much as nine in the second half to Malone (5-8, 0-2 G-MAC) before Davis & Elkins went on a 14-3 run to take a 57-55 lead with 12:03 remaining.
However, Malone would take back the lead and remained ahead through a 70-68 advantage with 3:17 left.
Donte Doleman hit a three pointer to give the Senators the lead and Davis & Elkins pulled away with seven points from
Kevin Bracy-Davis and four points from
Rickenjee Bellevue over the final 2:23.
Bracy-Davis finished with 24 points in the game and shared the team lead for Rebounds with Bellevue with eight. Bellevue finished with 13 points in the game.
Bellevue also had two blocks and two steals in the game.
Kevin Simpson was second in scoring for the Senators with 15 points. Simpson also had six assists to lead the team.
Doleman was also in double figures with 10 points and had five rebounds.
The Senators will return to action on Thursday with their first home game in conference play. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. against Ohio Valley.
