ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Women's Basketball team picked up its sixth straight victory with an 83-74 win over Alderson Broaddus University Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators (14-4, 5-2 G-MAC) slowly pulled away from the Battlers (7-13, 2-5 G-MAC) over the first 30 minutes of the game and held off a late charge from their rivals to secure their fifth straight win in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Stephanie Wooten led the Senators with 20 points in the game, one of three players in double figures for the hosts. Wooten also had seven assists and chipped in with three boards off the glass.
Jay Kilpatrick and
Alicia Roth also scored in double figures for the Senators, scoring 16 and 10 points, respectively.
The Senators shot 43 percent from the field, including 12 three pointers, while Alderson Broaddus had just seven three pointers. Davis & Elkins also pulled down 42 rebounds to 38 from the Battlers.
With the win, Davis & Elkins moves into a tie for second in the G-MAC Standings at the halfway point.
The Senators will return to the road for the first of three straight away from Elkins on Thursday when they travel to Cedarville. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
