Rickenjee Bellevue set a new conference record for rebounds in a game as the Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team defeated Cedarville 78-69 on Saturday in the McDonnell Center.
Bellevue finished with 22 rebounds, breaking the old Great Midwest Athletic Conference record of 21. The junior from Croix-Des-Bouquets, Haiti split his boards with 11 rebounds on the offensive glass and another 11 on the defensive end of the floor. Bellevue also finished with 13 points, recording his fifth double-double of the year.
The Senators took a slim 29-28 lead into the break, but opened up as much as a 15-point lead in the second half to earn their third straight conference victory and remain undefeated in G-MAC play.
Kevin Bracy-Davis also had a double-double, leading all scorers with 30 points, while collecting 12 rebounds. Bracy-Davis, who has shot in double figures all year and is averaging 22.0 points per game, has seven double-doubles this season.
Donte Doleman and
Trevor English also finished in double figures, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively. English also had seven rebounds and one of five Senators' blocks on the night.
Bellevue led the team with three blocks, while Bracy-Davis also had one.
Jordan McElveen and
Kevin Simpson shared for a team high five assists in the game.
Davis & Elkins College will return to action next Thursday as the Senators begin their longest road trip of the conference season with a trip to Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky.
