Game One

The Basics

  • Score: 9-7  
  • Records: Davis & Elkins (25-12) – Alderson Broaddus (10-23)
  • Location: Joni Smith Softball Field, Elkins, West Virginia

How it Happened:

  • The Battlers used three hits in the top of the first inning to score one run.
  • D&E answered right back in the bottom half of frame with two runs.  Kayla Whoolery doubled and then Taylor Norton doubled to even the score before Norton came around to score on a wild pitch.
  • Alderson Broaddus scored three runs in the third inning on one hit and three D&E errors. The Senators were able to get one run back in the fourth inning to make the score 4-2.
  • The Battlers picked up two more runs in the top of the fifth inning.  However, the Senators then got three runs on four hits to tie the game.
  • Alderson Broaddus again fought back scoring one run in the top of the sixth inning before D&E added three runs in the frame.  Katie Manson had a single in to right field to drive in two of the three runs.
  • Taylor Norton was four for four with two RBI to lead the Senators.
  • Allie Lapallo started the game for D&E, working five innings, allowing seven runs (two earned) and six hits.  Victoria Krystynak threw two innings in relief without allowing a run, with two hits and one strikeout.

Game Two

  • Score: 10-3
  • Records: Davis & Elkins (26-12) – Alderson Broaddus (10-24)
  • Location: Joni Smith Softball Field, Elkins, West Virginia

How it Happened:

  • Neither team was able to score in the first inning. D&E jumped on the board in the second inning and scored two runs on hits from Katie Manson and Katlyn Huffman.
  • Alderson Broaddus took advantage of two hits and two errors to even the score at two in the top of the third inning.
  • The Senators exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning on six hits and one Battler error.  Alderson Broaddus got one run back in the top of the sixth inning on an Ashley Baker triple to make the score 9-3
  • The Senators added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Taylor Norton doubled, was lifted for pinch runner Samantha Smith who came around to score on a Danielle Norton RBI single.
  • Taylor Norton and Katie Manson both had three hits for the Senators.  Katlyn Huffman and Kayla Whoolery added two hits apiece.
  • Victoria Krystynak picked up the win for the Senators, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts.

 Senator Synopsis:

"We put ourselves in some tough situations today, said head coach Kimberly Stiles.  "We fought back as a team and I am really proud of the resilience we showed".

What's Next: 
The Senators travel to Ohio Valley on Friday for a conference double header beginning at 4:00 PM.
