Game One

The Basics

  • Score: 6-0  
  • Records: Davis & Elkins (14-7) – Glenville State (4-18)
  • Location: Joni Smith Softball Field, Elkins, West Virginia

How it Happened:

  • The Senators and Pioneers swapped scoreless frames through the first two innings.  D&E was able to break the game open in the bottom of the third inning.  Sydney Turner singled and scored on a Kayla Whoolery base hit.  Whoolery then scored on Alyssa Cairn's single up the middle.
  • D&E added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-0.
  • Sydney Turner had three hits for the Senators.  Kayla Whoolery, Danielle Norton and Alyssa Cairns all had two hits and an RBI.
  • Allie Lapallo earned the win for D&E, allowing three hits with three strikeouts.

Game Two

  • Score: 8-2
  • Records: Davis & Elkins (15-7) – Glenville State (4-19)
  • Location: Joni Smith Softball Field, Elkins, West Virginia

How it Happened:

  • The Senators took advantage of three hits and two Pioneer errors to jump out front 4-0 in the first inning.
  • In the bottom of the second inning, Chelsie Stover got the Senators rolling with a double to left field.  D&E scored three more runs on three hits and two errors to put the Senators on top 7-0.
  • Glenville State got one run back in the top of the fourth inning and surrendered one run in the bottom half of the inning.
  • The Pioneers plated one in the top of the fifth inning on two D&E errors to make the score 8-2.
  • Danielle Norton had two hit and an RBI andTaylor Norton had two hits and three RBI for D&E.
  • Victoria Krystynak picked up the win for the Senators, giving up two runs on four hits, with three strikeouts.

 Senator Synopsis:

"I was happy with the way we played today", said head coach Kimberly Stiles.  "We did a much better job having smart at bats and our pitchers were strong in the circle".

What's Next: 
The Senators travel to Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene at 1:00 (CT) and 3:00 (CT) on Friday.
